Keynote: AI

Is Your CFD Hallucinating? Unpacking the Opportunities and Challenges of AI for Simulation

In this keynote panel, our experts discuss how artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and reduced order models (ROMs) can augment and optimize classic design and simulation workflows. Can AI successfully model against uncertainty? What data do you need to train the model? How do you prevent AI hallucination, detect corner cases where ROMs may not be advisable, or avoid model collapse?

Alexander Lavin, Founder & CEO of Pasteur Labs

About Alexander

Alexander is a leading expert in AI for science and probabilistic computing. He's the Founder & CEO of Pasteur Labs, and its sister nonprofit, Institute for Simulation Intelligence (ISI). Together, they aim to reshape R&D with a new class of AI-native simulators, targeting the energy security, aerospace, materials & manufacturing sectors. For the past twelve years, Lavin has focused on artificial general intelligence (AGI) research with top startups in neuroscience and robotics, including Vicarious AI and Numenta. He sold his last ML-simulation startup Latent Sciences in 2019. Lavin also serves as an AI Advisor to NASA, overseeing physics-ML efforts for ESA (European Space Agency) and NASA’s Digital Twin Earth. Previously, Lavin was a spacecraft engineer with NASA and Blue Origin, and won several international awards for his work in rocket science and space robotics. Lavin was named one of Forbes 30 Under 30 in Science and a Patrick J. McGovern Tech for Humanity Changemaker.
