The BTH-1208LS acquires data over battery-backed Bluetooth or USB connections. Sampling rates are 1 kS/s over Bluetooth and 50 kS/s over USB. The BTH-1208LS features eight 11-bit SE (single ended) or four 12-bit DIFF (differential) analog inputs, two 12-bit analog outputs, eight digital I/O, and one 32-bit event counter. When operating as a Bluetooth device, the BTH-1208LS can transmit data up to 10 meters.

For developing applications on Android-based devices, the BTH-1208LS comes with the new Universal Library for Android, which includes examples for Android platforms 3.1 and later. The library provides support for Android project development on 32- and 64-bit Windows 8/7/Vista/XP (SP2) platforms as well as Linux and Mac workstations. Classes that communicate with analog I/O, digital I/O, counter I/O, and timer I/O device subsystems are included. Example ready-to-run demo apps for Android are also available on Google Play.

For Windows software support, the BTH-1208LS includes TracerDAQ software for acquiring and displaying data and generating analog signals, and the InstaCal software utility for installing, calibrating, and testing. TracerDAQ offers a virtual instrument suite with strip chart, oscilloscope, function generator, and rate generators. Its Universal Library also includes support for Visual Studio and Visual Studio .NET, including examples for Visual C++, Visual C#, Visual Basic, and Visual Basic .NET. The ULx for NI LabVIEW Driver for Measurement Computing’s data acquisition products are available as are drivers for DASYLab data acquisition, graphics, control, and analysis software.

Supported operating systems for the BTH-1208LS are Windows 8/7/Vista/XP SP2, 32-bit or 64-bit, and Android 3.1 and later. It supports Microsoft Bluetooth stack and Broadcom Bluetooth stack (not supported by Windows XP SP3) Windows Bluetooth stack protocols.

The BTH-1208LS is available in a standard design version as well as a board-only version for OEM and embedded designs. The board-only version requires user-supplied power.

Pricing for the BTH-1208LS begins at $199 for the standard unit. A BTH-1208LS with a Google Nexus tablet is available for $429.
