Design & Simulation Summit to Tackle Hot Topics in Engineering

Registration still open for Digital Engineering’s one-day virtual summit, slated for October 31.

Registration still open for Digital Engineering’s one-day virtual summit, slated for October 31.

Digital Engineering is gearing up to host the fourth annual Design & Simulation Summit on Halloween (October 31, 2024). Speakers and topics are set for the virtual one-day event, which spans from hallucinating CFD to additive manufacturing’s 4th industrial to simulation-driven design.

The summit welcomes guests to spend a couple hours learning beneficial insights from industry experts on use of artificial intelligence (AI) in simulation, how to optimize your designs for additive manufacturing, discovering real-world engineering use cases for digital twins, and considering the business benefits of simulation.

Attendees are invited to attend the kickoff keynote and any or all of the tracks that follow the keynote. Still on the fence about whether you’ll have time to spare for the summit? You can sign up now and then return to stream any content after the event.

Keynote Track

Time: 12 p.m. ET

Is Your CFD Hallucinating? Unpacking the Opportunities and Challenges of AI for Simulation

This keynote panel, moderated by Senior Editor Kenneth Wong, invites experts to share how how artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and reduced order models (ROMs) can optimize your design and simulation workflows. Panelists are: Alexander Lavin, Founder & CEO of Pasteur Lab; Astrid Walle, principal of Astrid Walle CFDSolutions; and Sandeepak Natu, executive consultant, CIMdata. Learn more about the speaker panel here.

In the LIVE keynote panel discussion, we will seek answers to open questions, such as: In autonomous car trainings and digital twin predictions, can AI account for the uncertainty inherent in nature and human behavior? Recall that an AI-driven vehicle still must react to any unpredictable—and possibly illogical—driving decisions made by human drivers in the vicinity. In design and simulation, what would AI hallucination look like, and how can it be circumvented?

Of note for this track only, attendees can register and submit any questions here.

The summit will offer four additional sessions attendees can choose to attend:

Session 1: Design

Time: 1 p.m. ET

How to Make Simulation-Driven Design a Strategic Advantage for Your Company

Businesses rely on engineering simulation to answer complex technical questions, but rarely do they have a system to document its benefits. This presentation invites Mark Meili to explain why simulation is a strategic business advantage. Learn about the speaker here.

Session 2: Additive Manufacturing

Time: 1:30 p.m. ET

Join the 4th Industrial Revolution with Additive Manufacturing

For this segment, Bob English of Valiant Products explores the technology, part designs, and materials used in additive manufacturing (AM), including printed parts with complex geometries that are strong yet lightweight. Valiant Products has been manufacturing metal parts for the medical, transportation, energy, defense, and aerospace industries for over 45 years.  Learn about the speaker here.

Session 3: Engineering Computing

Time: 2 p.m. ET

Benchmarking Engineering Workstation Performance

Learn about hardware performance gains in computer-aided design software in this session. Finding the right balance of CPU cores, GPU power, RAM, storage and power management can be a challenge, according to this expert. Testing is specific to SOLIDWORKS, but overall data performance deltas are expected to be similar in other CAD systems. This presenter has conducted thousands of benchmarking studies. Learn about the speaker here.

Session 4: Digital Twins

Time: 2:30 p.m.

Applications and Benefits of Digital Twins for the Manufacturing Industry

Find out about the impact of digital twins in product development in manufacturing. Explore three examples of digital twins in action, along with best practices. Learn about the speaker here.

Sponsors for the event include nTop (platinum sponsor); COMSOLVelocity Micro; and TotalCAE.
