Digital twins are growing both in adoption and importance in the manufacturing space, where companies are using virtual representations of machines and even entire factories to monitor performance and explore new plant designs and manufacturing processes.

At the virtual Design & Simulation Summit on Oct. 31 Teresa Alberts, CEO and founder of ITficient, addresses the impact of digital twins in product development in the manufacturing industry. She will highlight how industry leaders benefit from their digital twin implementations and present three examples of digital twins in action, along with best practices.

During the session, titled “Applications and Benefits of Digital Twins for the Manufacturing Industry,” Alberts will also explain how to identify the right use case for predictive maintenance, new service models or digital manufacturing; how to create, validate, and refine a proof of concept; and how to scale it for productive use.

Teresa is the CEO and founder of ITficient, a Swiss company boosting predictive maintenance, new service models, and digital manufacturing. She is a member of several different Digital Twin Working Groups. She has also appeared as a guest speaker at European School of Management and Technology, Berlin, and different universities of applied science in Europe.

The Design & Simulation Summit kicks off on Oct. 31 with a live panel discussion about the use of artificial intelligence in simulation and design. Other sessions will cover configuring a workstation for design and simulation; digital twin case studies; and making the business case for simulation-led design.
