Meggitt Sensing Systems has announced that its crash test sensing technologies have been earmarked to support “next generation” WorldSID 50th percentile crash test dummy (ATD) instrumentation, slated for adoption by many automotive OEMs and their associated crash test laboratories.
The company’s Endevco piezoresistive accelerometers are used for crash test, anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs) and related vehicle legislative and safety testing. The series offers compatibility to in-dummy and onboard data acquisition systems, in accordance with SAEJ211, SAE2570 and other recognized standards.
The Endevco model 7268C, a miniature triaxial piezoresistive accelerometer series, is designed for the high-reliability measurement of short-duration shock parameters across three axes and in three orthogonal directions, within applications where impact source or direction may be less apparent. Housed within a package measuring just 12.7 x 10.7 x 13.7 mm, model 7268C is offered in both a 500 g range version, rugged to 5,000 g shock, with a resonant frequency of 17,000 Hz; and in a 2,000 g range version, rugged to 10,000 g shock and with a 26,000 Hz resonant frequency. Frequency response for both versions is to 1500 Hz on the X&Y axes and 0 to 3000 Hz on the Z-axis.
The 7268C is world SID-dummy approved, including Euro SID-1 and Euro SID-2, with specifications that further meet EuroNCAP, SAEJ211 and SAEJ2570 standards.
