Growing complexity and more discriminating customer demands has made the already difficult job of designing on-point products even more daunting today. Digitizing the product development process, including the creation of digital twins or digital representations of physical products, is seen as a way uplevel design practices given the ability to simulate and optimize products well before spending time and money on building physical prototypes.
In fact, in advanced industries like automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing, almost 75% of companies have already adopted digital twins as a way to safely and cost-effectively simulate, predict, and optimize product performance for data-driven decision-making. The concept is gaining traction with product development leaders with expectations that the global market for digital twin technologies will grow at a 61% CAGR between 2023 and 2028, reaching $110.1 billion by 2028.
Despite the clear benefits and strong interest across industries, many companies are slow to adopt and implement digital twins across the enterprises for a variety of reasons, most notably, the high cost of implementation and the need for specialized programming skills and expertise.
Vectary, a design platform for creating and managing 3D and augmented reality (AR) assets, is aiming to simplify the process of building and managing digital twins with the release of its API capabilities. The move extends the functionality of its no-code 3D configurator technology to the creation of digital twins, empowering users across industries to get started with the technology without the significant learning curve.
Vectary’s API allows companies to seamlessly connect 3D models created in Vectary’s no-code design studio with real-time data sources, simplifying the process of creating dynamic digital twins. By leveraging Vectary's API, companies can create digital twin prototypes and run simulated tests under various conditions before putting them into production. Real-time data can be visualized, and physical products can be controlled directly from the 3D model viewer.
The Vectary API also creates advantage for dynamic product presentations and interactive user experiences. The API supports two-way communication, enabling users to control aspects like modularity, lighting, and temperature of their physical products directly from the Vectary 3D configurator.
“Our API democratizes access to digital twin technology, enabling any company to easily create digital twins of their products without needing extensive resources or expertise,” said Michal Koor, CEO and Founder of Vectary. “By empowering businesses to leverage digital twins for prototyping, real-time monitoring, and interactive customer experiences, we're helping to drive innovation and growth across industries.”
