UGS(Plano, TX) has released Femap Version 9.2, the latest version of itspre- and postprocessing finite element modeling application. Femap isthe finite element analysis (FEA) component of the company’s VelocitySeries portfolio of digital product design, analysis, and datamanagement software.
Femap Version 9.2, says UGS, offers finite element modeling functionality thatprovides access to advanced analysis solutions in a native Windowsenvironment. According to a press release, it is also highly integratedwith the Nastran solver to form a broad and comprehensive CAE solution.
New functionality in Femap 9.2 includes capabilities for handlingassemblies. These include automatic surface contact detection; supportof glued surface connection functionality recently released with NXNastran 4.1; consolidation of contact functionality within the userinterface for easier access to contact definitions; data mapping thatallows results from one analysis to be mapped to another model ofsimilar topology for subsequent analysis (e.g., thermal results from acoarsely meshed model mapped to a finely meshed model for subsequentstructural analysis); and extended surfaces that can handle modeling ofweldments or welded structures. It also has improved graphicsperformance.
