UGS Corp. (Plano, TX) has announced Teamcenter for Simulation, whichbrings simulation into the PLM (product lifecycle management)paradigm. Teamcenter for Simulation leverages the company’s TeamcenterPLM portfolio, meaning that it enables the analysis community to managesimulation processes and their inherently huge amounts of data while itprovides increased access to the performance information for workgroupand enterprise collaborators.
In a simultaneous press statement, UGS announced its LifecycleSimulation strategy, which seeks to provide an integrated digitalsimulation solution that enables real-time product developmentsimulation in a collaborative, visual, managed, and open environment.Teamcenter for Simulation is a key element in UGS’s LifecycleSimulation strategy.
Being in effect PLM for CAE, Teamcenter for Simulation can helporganizations automate best practices and better define components andsubsystems to analyze. Additionally, it can foster data reuse, facilitate design validation, and provide verification that correctanalysis procedures are followed.
Teamcenter for Simulation creates a single source system to manage CAEproduct and process knowledge and multiple software solutions. It combines support for integrated simulationprocess workflows and program execution with Teamcenter’s broaderfunctionality.
UGS’s new Lifecycle Simulation strategy seeks to providean integrated digital simulation solution that enables real-timeproduct development simulation in a collaborative, visual, managed, andopen environment.
A core component of Lifecycle Simulation is its openness. The LifecycleSimulation strategy expands the use of PLM XML across the company’sset of simulation solutions and leverages UGS’s JT visualizationtechnology. This makes simulation results available to everyone, which,in turn, incubates a collaborative environment.
In addition to Teamcenter for Simulation, the UGS Lifecycle Simulationstrategy includes new analysis wizards to be delivered through NX SimulationProcess Studio in NX. NX Simulation Process Studio enables experts toleverage visual workflow definitions to quickly define andinstitutionalize best practices. This enables more designs to bevalidated in less time. Using NX Simulation Process Studio, newanalysis wizards for designers will be delivered with NX later thisyear.
