Noran Engineering, Inc.(Westminster, CA), a developer of Nastran finite element analysis (FEA)software, announced the release of NEiModeler V9.1. Noran says it willextend its user base by providing special features for new andexperienced users. This release is part of a product strategy ofallowing easier adoption of FEA technology by new users, whilesupporting the most sophisticated users with advanced tools. Theoverall objective is a smooth, continuous pathway to increasing skilllevels of analysis and simulation in virtual product development.
NEiNastran Modeler V9.1 is accessible to new users since it providesboth CAD geometry transfer and FEA model creation capabilities in anative Windows environment using the latest generation Microsofttechnology. NEiModeler can accept files from major 3D CAD programs(e.g., Solid Edge V18, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, AutodeskInventor). And full 3D model creation for analysis is possible—evenfor those without 3D systems—by incorporating both the Parasolids andACIS geometry engines.
Experienced FE analysts will find NEiModeler’s additional meshing, spotweld simulation, customization, and automation functions of interest. These include a new Quadrilateral Element meshing option for criticalboundaries and stress raisers, a Nastran Spot Weld Element for sheetmetal, a Macro-driven program file for automating repetitive tasks, anda fully integrated BASIC development environment for customizingpost-processing functions.
Dave Weinberg, CEO of Noran Engineering, says, “The pre-post processoris the foundation of an FEA software portfolio. It is the primary userenvironment, the conduit for all incoming data and results, and aconnection to all the analysis tools. So modeler selection is acritical and long-term decision.”
