MatterHackers Launches MatterControl Touch

The platform enables users to create completely autonomous 3D printers.

MatterHackers has introduced MatterControl Touch, a Wi-Fi enabled, Android powered portable 3D printer controller. This technology enables users to create models on their printer on a touchscreen interface.

MatterControl Touch can work on any 3D printer equipped with a USB cable. Once the initial setup is complete, the printer is complete autonomous and does not require connection to a computer. From the web, users can send and receive printable designs and download models.

The program comes with configurations for over 40 different 3D models. File preparation can be completed with MatterSlice, which supports model generation and integrated slicing. The company has stated that an embedded version of the platform is in the works.

“MatterControl Touch sets a new standard for the 3D printing user experience,” said Lars Brubaker, CEO of MatterHackers. “With this extension of our MatterControl platform, we’ve brought a new level of convenience to desktop 3D printing that simply hasn’t existed before. Slicing, manipulating models, adjusting settings — this can all be done on the 3D printer now without the need for a dedicated computer.”
