Saelig Co. Inc.(Pittsford, NY) is selling the CUBLOC, a new embeddable multitaskingprocessor programmable in both Basic and Ladder Logic. The company saysBasic and Ladder Logic are simultaneously executed for fast control, complex math, graphic LCD, and data communication protocols that can beeasily implemented. While Ladder Logic offers real-time sequentialprocessing, Basic supplies the number-crunching power. Resulting datamay be shared. Both the real-time processing powers of a MODBUS PLC andthe 32-bit floating-point math, graphic capabilities, and communicationpowers of BASIC are now available in one chip.

According to a press release, CUBLOC fills in a PLC’s Ladder Logicweakness by adding a simultaneous powerful interpreted Basic languagecapability, with multitasking features. Ladder Logic is useful for isits parallel, logic-oriented ability to process inputs within aguaranteed time-slot. CUBLOC is a PLC-on-a-chip with up to 49 I/Oports, 8 channels of 10-bit A/D, up to 6 X 16-bit PWM outputs, 80KBFlash Program memory so you can develop industrial machines, factorytemperature controllers, packing machines, robots, embedded control, and more.

CUBLOC is can be programmed from a Windows XP, 2000, or 98 PC. Using anoptional XPORT internet module, TCP or UDP packets can be monitored viathe internet from anywhere, allowing users to update or providecustomer service for products located anywhere in the world. Price:$34 for the CB220 (24-pin DIP with 16 I/O, 8-ch 10-bit A/D, 3-ch 16 bitPWM); $43 for the CB280 (64-pin module with 49 I/O, 8-ch 10-bit A/D,6-ch 16-bit PWM); $69 for the CB290 (108-pin module with 91 I/O, 28KBdata memory,  8-ch 10-bit A/D, 6-ch 16- bit PWM). Starter Kitswith development boards are available from $99 each.
