ESTECO Academy has launched its 2016 Design Competition in collaboration with APRILIA Racing and Gamma Technologies. The winning team will receive job experience with the APRILIA team for their winning design of a new low-fuel consumption engine.
The competition challenge consists in the design of a four-stroke single cylinder engine through multidisciplinary optimization, using principles of engineering to find the highest improvement in the engine performance, respecting the constraints and starting from the baseline configuration provided. The submitted work should be innovative and demonstrate the use of the modeFRONTIER optimization platform and Gamma Technologies simulation solution; the jury will favor creative designs providing significant improvements in engine performance, fuel usage and sustainability, the company states.
“That’s a great opportunity for students that are stepping into the working world. Competing teams will benefit from a hands-on experience and learn how to balance the use of cutting edge software technology with their engineering skills, in the quest for the optimal design,” says Enrico Nobile, scientific advisor at ESTECO and professor of Thermal Fluids at the University of Trieste.
The official guidelines and regulations will be launched September 22, and teams have until November to enter.
