Noesis Solutions (Leuven, Belgium) just released PLM Optimization, asuite of design exploration, optimization, and design tools integratedin the CATIA V5 product family from Dassault Systmes (Paris, France).” Early roll-outs at beta sites,” said the company in a statement tothe press, “demonstrated” that PLM Optimization could cut productdevelopment time, enabling users to deliver “better performing productswith higher quality at the lowest possible cost.”
According to NOESIS, its PLM Optimization for CATIA builds on the V5knowledgeware infrastructure and its parametric design functionality. This combination enables CATIA designers and analysts to automaticallygenerate new design alternatives to explore their design space, toidentify designs with better functional performance, and to ensuredesign reliability.
PLM Optimization is integrated inside CATIA V5, and is said to have theintelligence to automatically propose new designs that meet or exceeddesign specifications. NOESIS says that PLM Optimization automates theexploration of the design space, and lets you visualize and exploretheir design space with design of experiment and response surfacemodeling techniques.
PLM Optimization uses a combination of gradient methods for a quickanalysis or genetic methods where multiple hills, valleys and saddlesare anticipated in the design. The influence of parameter variabilityon the simulation results is assessed and optimized with Design for SixSigma methods. Additional features include the ability to manage CATIAsimulation software and other CAA V5-based products, such as ABAQUS forCATIA, Fluent for CATIA, LMS Virtual.Lab, and OPTIS for CAA V5.
