“North American manufacturing has taken it on the chin since thecollapse in 2000,” said Anthony J. Lockwood, editorial director of DE.“Smart manufacturers managed to survive the march of overseascompetitors and their legions of cheap labor by cost cutting andleveraging their know-how. Problem is, our competitors are investing inthemselves and get smarter every day. To succeed, we must invest inourselves, stay smarter, and leverage every new technologicaladvancement to the max. Helping manufacturers understand emergingengineering technologies is what DE‘s IDEAS for Manufacturing is all about.”
DE‘s IDEAS will provide three tracks of practical, hands-onknowledge on emerging technologies and strategic initiatives to improveengineering processes, innovation, and product development.Presentations by experienced leaders in general sessions, paneldiscussions, breakout sessions, and on the exhibition floor willexplore technologies and provide strategies that SMB manufacturers andOEMs can exploit to gain and hold global market share. TechExpress, unique to DE‘s IDEAS, will offer attendees private question-and-answer sessions and demonstrations with conference exhibitors.
“DE‘s IDEAS for Manufacturing was developed in response to the findings of several DE subscriber surveys,” said Brian Vaillancourt, publisher of DE. “Our subscribers demonstrated an overwhelming desire to participate in DE-sponsoredforums that offered peer-to-peer and supplier-to-engineer settings forlearning about and applying collaborative design-for-manufacture tools, technology, and processes, and we’re providing them with thatopportunity.”
DE‘s IDEAS for Manufacturing Conferences convene June 13-14,2006 at the Westin Waltham outside of Boston; June 20-21 at theSheraton in Novi, MI; and June 27-28 at the Marriott Suites in Anaheim,CA.
