Engineering Technology Associates (ETA) announced that it will release its Blank Size Engineering module for the NX environment, called BSE-in-NX, later this month. According to the company, the solution is a complete toolset for accurately predicting flat blank profiles, optimal nesting layouts and forming feasibility for 3D part models. It is now available for users of Siemens’ NX digital product development software, via an icon on the NX toolbar.
BSE-in-NX can be used by cost estimators to calculate blank outlines and determine ideal nesting layouts and material usage for accurate quoting and by product designers to evaluate the formability of new designs, the company says. The functions are available within the NX user interface and operate directly on the NX model without data translation.
“Particularly important to tool & die makers in the automotive supply chain, BSE-in-NX provides NX users easy access to blanking, nesting, and simulation technology,” said Arthur Tang, vice president of ETA. “This accurate and timely information enables product designers to evaluate material utilization rate, forming concerns during the product design stage and enables tool and die makers to fine-tune cost estimates to compete more effectively in the marketplace.”
BSE-in-NX is the first product to be released under the current partnership between ETA and Siemens, which established ETA as a Foundation Partner in the Siemens’ Partner Program. Foundation Partners are able to participate in specifically defined joint sales and marketing activities with Siemens.
