ANSYS Workbench Users Benefit from MatWeb Integration

ANSYS, Inc. (Canonsburg, PA), a provider of simulation software, has partnered with MatWeb(Blacksburg, VA), a provider of technical material data sheets, toprovide access to material property data from within ANSYS Workbench.

Increased material property data will allow ANSYS users to moreaccurately simulate material behavior early in the design process,ultimately saving on material costs of physical prototypes.

ANSYS users can now import material properties from a growingcollection of more than 55,000 material data sheets from MatWeb,including hundreds of various metals, plastics and ceramics. These datasheets include precise descriptions of material properties, themajority of which originate from testing by the manufacturers.

Users can create and export libraries of twenty materials at a time inANSYS library format (XML) from MatWeb’s collection of material datasheets. The appropriate property values in the correct units areautomatically added to the XML file. MatWeb also provides onlinematerial tools including a unit converter, weight and inertiacalculator and hardness converter.
