National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) (Tainan, Taiwan) has developed a prototype of a 3D printer. The 3D printer has been developed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME), led by the Distinguished Professor Sen-Yung Lee under the funding from the Technology Development Program for Academia (TDPA). Managed by the Ministry of Economic Affair (MOEA), the TDPA aims to encourage universities to explore industrial technology research and development. The new 3D printer has been transferred to a domestic company, MicroJet Ltd., which is the only domestic company in Taiwan that has expertise in printer manufacturing.
