Toshiba Adds 60GB Model to Automotive HDD Line

Toshiba Storage Device Division (SDD; Irvine, CA) launched the new 60GB automotive hard disk drive (HDD), designed to offer high-capacity storage solutions for sophisticated navigation and media centers in digital cars.
The 60GB provides greater flexibility for OEM and aftermarket designers seeking to integrate high-capacity storage solutions for the growing popularity of infotainment in digital cars.
Also available in 40GB and 80GB,Toshiba’s sixth-generation 60GB automotive HDD (MK6050GAC) joins Toshiba’s existing automotive-grade HDD series that includes both 40GB and 80GB models. All models feature the improved altitude specification of 5,500m, pushing the boundaries of in-dash system design to meet the operating extremes of today’s driving environment.
Toshiba will showcase its industry-leading automotive class HDD line at the Telematics Detroit 2008 show at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, MI, May 21-22.
Samples of Toshiba’s new automotive-grade HDDs will be available later this year to automotive OEMs and aftermarket suppliers.
