Two new offerings from the Saelig Company (Pittsford, NY) include the ALFATxp, a SDMMC card interface chip, and the HA1600A, a high-speed AC power analyzer for product power-compliance measurements.

Designed for applications such as data logging, picture viewing, and automated machines, the new ALFATxp connects through a built-in USB peripheral port, allowing the user to share files between a PC and custom-designed products. Made by GHI Electronics (Clinton Township, MI), the ALFATxp brings FAT file system access to SD/MMC media, creating files and directories on the cards. It includes a Java Virtual Machine for handling additional tasks.

Since ALFATxp is viewed as a mass storage device on a PC, the operating system can read and write data on an SD card, just like a conventional card reader. By connecting ALFATxp through USB, users have access to two virtual devices—a mass storage device as well as CDC device that can read and write data through a virtual COM port on your PC.

ALFATxp is being offered by Saeling for under $12. A development board for experimenting with ALFATxp is also available for $99.95.

Saelig Co, Inc. is also offering the HA1600A, a high-speed AC power analyzer for product power-compliance measurements. It takes single-phase loads of up to 16 amps RMS, measuring 1st to 40th harmonics and updating the display in real time. The HA1600A can measure watts, VA, volts rms, volts peak, amps rms, amps peak, crest factors, THD, power factor, frequency, and inrush current. The HA1600A is intended primarily as a dedicated harmonics and flicker analyzer for compliance quality measurements, but it can also be used as a general-purpose line and mains analyzer.

HA-PC Link Plus Windows-based software supplied with HA1600A facilitates routine compliance measurements and archiving of results. It can communicate with the instrument through either an RS232 or a USB connection.

Weighing less than 10 lbs in a metal 14 in. X 9 in. X 5 in. casing, HA1600A displays load supply assessment for voltage, harmonics, crest limits, and frequency against standard requirements. The 320 X 240 pixel backlit LCD can show multiple parameters simultaneously. A histogram or tabular display of supply voltage and current harmonics with limits, present values, average, maximum values, etc. is available, with results of timed or un-timed tests exported to a hard-copy report.

HA1600A Harmonic Analyzer is available now from Saelig Co. Inc. from $2,899. To order either of these new products or get more information, go to saelig.com.
