Conduant Corporation (Longmont, CO), a developer of direct-to-disk long-duration recording and playback systems, announced the new Big River LTX2 data recorder. It provides over 480 MB/second recording and playback performance in a power-efficient package designed for remote or portable applications.

Requiring less than 120 Watts and a DC power source of 12 Volts, the Big River LTX2 can operate as a standalone system with network control over an Ethernet connection or can be directly connected to a host computer via its Star Fabric PCI bridge interface.

The chassis is 1.75 in. in height and less than 16 inches in width and depth. It accepts sixteen 2-1/2 in. disk drives for up to 3.2 terabytes (TB) of storage capacity. The user may choose lower-cost rotating disk storage or solid-state drives for more environmental tolerance such as shock, vibration, temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure.

Base pricing for the Big River LTX2 starts at around $28,000 for a 1.6 TB system.
