UGS Corp.(Plano, Texas) has released Tecnomatix Version 7.6 software, the latestversion of its digital manufacturing software portfolio.
UGS says that it has focused many of the changes in Tecnomatix 7.6 on trimming thetime required for process design and validation tasks. Theseenhancements include a new automatic weld point distribution tool(replacing a tedious manual process) that assigns, validates, andreports on weld point distribution in the process design; a processmirroring capability that reduces the time necessary to model assemblyprocesses by up to 50 percent; an automatic path planning capabilitythat enables manufacturing engineers to define robotic and assemblypaths within minutes; and a new distributed flow simulation experimentcapability that reduces time to execute what-if simulationexperiments and optimization.
Other enhancements according to UGS include a new Robotic Process Simulation thatprovides body-in-white (BIW) users the ability to simulate and validatecomplex robotic processes, obtain cycle times, and improve the qualityof virtual process validation; a new quoting tool; and new technicalpublication capabilities, including a significantly improved userinterface. To improve usability, there are new color tree indicators, automatic note placement, a Windows-like application framework, andinteractive parametric report generation.
UGS says the new release of Tecnomatix has tighter integration with itsTeamcenter solution and closer alignment with the PLM Open businessmodel. This, UGS says, makes significant progress in closing the gapbetween product and process design for the entire global manufacturingindustry. Extending the knowledge capture, management, and distributionfeatures of Teamcenter into process planning and the productionenvironment provides what UGS calls a virtual manufacturing backbone tosupport the functionality of Tecnomatix.
With the release of Tecnomatix 7.6, UGS asserts that Teamcenter users are now able tomanage and share manufacturing bills-of-processes that were authoredusing Tecnomatix tools. Changes made in the process plan areautomatically reflected within Teamcenter. The bill-of-process is underconstant PLM control with changes in the product structure, revisions, and change notification being in constant association with themanufacturing process.
