Geomate Co. (San Jose, CA) has released its InventBetter Suite 2007, atrio of programs for scientific and technical professionals thatenables them to automate the engineering calculation process, which istypically disconnected, manual, and error prone.
Three Windows applications comprise the InventBetter Suite 2007 are GrafiCalc 2007, ToleranceCalc 4.0, and SectionCalc 4.0.
GrafiCalc 2007 is a geometrical spreadsheet that, says Geomate, enablesusers to solve geometry-dependent engineering challenges quickly.GrafiCalc is said to combine sketching, calculations, and optimizationwithin one application. With it you can establish bidirectionalassociations between geometry, dimensions, and calculations to capturethe functional intents of an engineering challenge in a single model.
GrafiCalc leverages a geometrical Goal Seek technology that enables youto begin solving your problem by stating the desired result first;e.g., you can specify such goals as cost, volume, weight, cross-sectionproperty, clearance, distance, stress, and deflection. Once specified,GrafiCalc can backsolve exact geometry to meet those parameters.
The ToleranceCalc 4.0 wizard addresses linear stack-up and statisticaltolerance analysis of parts and assemblies in any CAD system.ToleranceCalc requires no specialized knowledge of dimensionalengineering and is said to be easy enough to learn in a few minutes.Click here to see an example of how ToleranceCalc works.
SectionCalc 4.0, also wizard-based, lets you calculate all vitalsection properties of any standard, arbitrary and built-up sectioncreated in any CAD system using a few mouse clicks. Ina single step itcan calculate such properties as perimeter, centroid location (x,yc),moments of Inertia (Ixx and Iyy), distance of neutral axis fromextremes (Cx and Cy), radius of gyration (kx and ky), and sectionmodulus (Sx and Sy). The complete InventBetter Suite 2007 is available immediately for $299.The applications are available separately for $99 to $199, dependingupon application. For complete details, click here.
