This week, TechSoft 3D, known for its HOOPS SDK, launched an online portal, dubbed TS3D Innovation Lab.
The company plans to showcase R&D projects, new tool kits, prerelease code, and more. The experimental projects currently on display include:
- a solid modeling engine running in the cloud (powered by Siemens Parasolid and HOOPS Communicator);
- an Android AR viewer (powered by Google’s ARCore and HOOPS Visualize);
- a polygon model viewer for 3D printing projects (developed with Tech Soft and Machine Works SDKs).
“We want a way to showcase our R&D projects to spur conversation and share proof of concepts,” said Jonathan Girroir, the senior manager at Tech Soft 3D who conceived the idea for the Innovation Lab. “One thing we want to do is to add links to real code.”
Some source code for the tools on display in the Lab, such as the Exchange Tool Kit for CAD format translation, are on Github.
The portal targets developers primarily. The tools in the Lab are not officially supported.
TechSoft 3D's geometry translation and visualization technology powers programs and applications from Dassault Systemes SolidWorks, 3D systems maker Desktop Metal, and on-demand manufacturing service provider Xometry, Adobe, Hexagon, Siemens, and more.
The company offers four SDKs: HOOPS Communicator, HOOPS Exchange, HOOPS Visualize, and HOOPS Publish.
