System Supports Mobile Printing Via WiFi

Océ North America (Trumbull, CT), a Canon Group company, has announced its new Océ PlotWave 350 multifunction printing system. A large-format monochrome printer, the Océ PlotWave 350 is said to provide mobile printing flexibility for technical users needing to print, copy, and scan low volumes of technical documents including over WiFi-enabled networks.
The Océ PlotWave 350, which builds on the company’s Océ PlotWave 300 multifunction system, is said to be 50% faster than its predecessor and has been enhanced with more than 50 new improvements. Among its features is the new Océ Mobile Plot and Océ Mobile WebTools software. With this software, users with access to a WiFi router on their network can retrieve technical files using a mobile phone or computer and send a print request to the printer. Users can also print from and scan documents to a USB flash drive or to mobile devices using Océ Mobile WebTools software to capture changes and documents. Documents can be printed through Océ Publisher Select software to produce documentation for complex projects.
The Océ PlotWave 350 printer incorporates an enhanced version of the company’s energy-efficient Océ Radiant Fusing technology. This enables it print up to six D-size plots in one minute (6ppm). Specifications include print resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch) and instant start-up. The latter means that the Océ PlotWave 350 requires less than a second of warm-up time and can produce the first print of an A1 / D-size document in 31 seconds (40 seconds from sleep mode).
Additionally, the new Océ Print Driver 2.0 for Microsoft Windows has been added to the Océ PlotWave 350. The driver’s design is said to make it much easier for users to print complex drawings correctly the first time. It includes a “What You See is What You Print” preview that highlights potential errors that might occur with a selection, such as misplaced fold lines or a document size error. Users can then correct their selection, avoiding costly mistakes and wasted time.
The Océ PlotWave 350 system is constructed of solid, hard-wearing materials, according to the company. Critical components, such as the imaging drum and other moving parts, are enclosed to reduce contamination, wear, and tear. High-use parts, including paper drawers and panels, are made of reinforced materials, which, says Océ, provides protection from contact with dust and extends their lifetime. Separate paper paths reportedly help reduce paper jams and extra wear on the system.
“We developed this new system to address the needs of walk-up users in decentralized environments who require on-demand print, copy, and scan functionality,” said Sal Sheikh, vice president, Marketing for the Wide Format Printing Systems division of Océ North America in a press statement. “These users look for ease-of-use with minimal system interaction to generate their technical document output, whether at the system, from their workstation, or from their WiFi-enabled device. The Océ PlotWave 350 system is designed for maximum uptime and availability.”
Hardware options for the Océ PlotWave 350 include a second paper roll unit, a front original tray, rear delivery tray, removable hard disk kit, and a fan folder.
