Calerga (Lausanne, Switzerland) has added two major new features, Linux support and enhanced communication capabilities with other applications, to Sysquake, its main scientific software. Sysquake 3.5 now runs on GNU/Linux x86 computers, in addition to Windows and Mac OS X.
In version 3.5, a new mechanism lets external applications connect to Sysquake to exchange data, allowing Sysquake to act as a server. Communication protocols chosen for the capability are OLE Automation on Windows, and XML-RPC on Mac OS X and Linux. For Java developers, a package provides a unified interface.
Other improvements include increased flexibility in the GUI for figure placement and hierarchical menus, accelerated programming language with new native functions (such as native quaternion support which simplifies the modeling of some mechanical systems), and new interpolation functions.
Other Calerga products have been updated to profit from these enhancements. All Mac OS X applications now support directly PowerPC and Intel Mac computers.
Sysquake 3.5 is available now. For more information, visit calerga.com.
