Solid Edge Available Free to Secondary Schools

As part of its ongoing investment in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, Siemens PLM Software  announced a free High School Edition of its Solid Edge software for 3D computer-aided design (CAD) that is now available for educators in all secondary schools throughout the world. The software is being made available to teachers and instructors in an effort to expose students to the same engineering and product design tools used by manufacturers,  and encourage them to pursue STEM careers, the company says.

Educators can download a free 12-month academic site license at www.siemens.com/plm/solid-edge-highschool.

The High School Edition of Solid Edge contains Siemens PLM Software’s synchronous technology, which combines direct modeling with dimension-driven design. Schools will have access to the full function modules of Solid Edge drafting, sheet metal, surfacing and advanced assembly design. The 12 month, free license can be renewed on an annual basis.
