FARO Technologies, Inc. (Lake Mary, FL) recently released version 4.0 of its 3D laser scanning software family: FARO Scene, FARO Scout, FARO Scout LT, and FARO Record.
The software packages are used for viewing, administrating, calibrating, filtering, and managing large 3D point clouds collected with the FARO Laser Scanner LS.
Improvements to Version 4.0 include intrinsic use of the inclination sensor for faster registration, constraint-plane fit for high-accuracy plane positioning, easier export of slices, export of objects in DXF format, intelligent contrast adjustment to improve point-cloud visualization, and automatic filtering.
At the same time, Faro also announced that the FARO Laser Scanner LS features enhanced firmware, which is available for free to existing LS customers.
The FARO Laser Scanner LS is a portable, computerized measurement device that creates a high-resolution, 3D, digital “photograph” by scanning everything in its 360-degree path from as far as 76m away. It collects 120,000 points per second with up to 3mm accuracy while the system’s laptop computer recreates and records all of the object’s 3D measurements.
The captured data can then be used to create a digital model, or to perform evaluation and analysis against an existing model for anything requiring highly detailed 3D measurements.
