Coraid(San Clemente, CA) says its EtherDrive Storage products provideEthernet networked storage at less than $1 per gigabyte when using750GB SATA disk drives. EtherDrive Storage is said to have the abilityto scale one disk at a time to multi-PetaBytes of storage capacity.
According to a Coraid press release, high-capacity disks and low-costnetworking means massively scalable storage networks are noweconomically feasible for many of today’s data-hungry applications.EtherDrive Storage products use the AoE (ATA-over-Ethernet) storageprotocol. AoE enables disks to be shared on the network creating ahighly scalable storage system while saving on costs.
