The new K-Scan MMZ handheld laser scanner from Metris (Leuven, Belgium) is a portable scanner combining the Metris ModelMaker Z laser scanner and the portable K-series Optical CMM. The K-Scan is suited for on-site 3D digitizing tasks.
The lightweight probe features two different stripe widths (70 and 140mm) aiming at faster scanning or higher resolution scanning. It has a measurement range from 1.5 to 6 meters. The probe is equipped with 20 LEDs, and the scanning task is directly controlled using programmable buttons.
The “Enhanced Sensor Performance” feature automatically adapts the laser intensity to the surface properties, enabling convenient scanning of both shiny and dark surfaces with minimum user interaction.
The K-Scan MMZ is driven by the intuitive KUBE v12 acquisition and post-processing software that references, visualizes, and meshes the scanned object. The resulting point clouds, acquired at a rate of 23000 points/sec, are further analyzed in the Metris KUBE for basic inspection tasks or exported to Metris Focus software for full detailed analysis.
