Metris (Leuven, Belgium) launched their new 7-axis MCA v2.5 range of articulated arms that sport a measurement volume between 2.4 and 3.6m diameter. As part of an integrated solution that speeds up handheld inspection jobs, MCA combines laser scanners with flexible touch probing. Other efficiency factors include battery operation and wireless data communication that make it possible for users to quickly set up the portable system and use it at any location.
The MCA is used as a stand-alone metrology solution, where users mount the arm securely using integrated 3 ½”x8 adaptor or a powerful magnetic base to securely clamp the arm to metal surfaces. Individual point coordinates or point clouds are transmitted wirelessly to the laptop quickly.
With the 7-axis MCA, users can combine laser scanning and tactile measurement in a single inspection job. Automatic probe recognition also makes it possible for users to avoid making mistakes when switching between probe tips.
