QuadriSpace Corp. (Allen, TX) has introduced Share3D PDF, an entry-level product for producing interactive 3D PDF documents shareable with users of Adobe Reader 9 or higher. Share3D PDF, says the company, makes the translation from current 3D model formats to 3D PDFs easy, fast, and reliable.
Share3D PDF lets you publish PDF files with embedded 3D content that can be rotated, panned, and zoomed. Published 3D CAD models include the model tree for the 3D model, enabling Adobe Reader users to click on parts by name to select then interact with them in a 3D view.
Users of Share3D PDF can import CAD files in such formats as SolidWorks, Inventor, Rhino, SketchUp, and DWF. An optional add-on Granite import module extends Share3D PDF by adding direct import of Pro/ENGINEER .prt and .asm files as well as the ACIS, IGES, Parasolid, STEP, and VDA formats.
Share3D PDF is a template-based publishing application. Templates define the page design and determine where text, images, and interactive controls are positioned on the document page. The software comes with 50 templates for creating presentations, data sheets, engineering drawings, document inserts, full-screen, reviews, covers, demonstrations, and the like.

“We envision two broad-based uses for the Share3D PDF product,” explained Brian Roberts, President of QuadriSpace, in a press statement. “First, individuals across all 3D markets can rapidly produce high-quality 3D PDF files. Second, entire teams in professional environments can benefit from the template-based approach to 3D PDF publishing because of the standardization and productivity achieved with customizable templates.”
The software also includes named 3D views for capturing and recalling 3D views with PDF bookmarks and the ability to set up 3D model viewpoints. Captured files can be previewed, and text, images, materials, and colors are customizable.
Share3D PDF can be used in conjunction with QuadriSpace Pages3D to create custom templates for professional uses. Share3D PDF is available for an introductory price of $99 (discounted from $199). To learn more, go to the QuadriSpace’s dedicated Share3D PDF website.
