Lenovo Debuts Workstation for 2D CAD and Entry-Level 3D Applications
New ThinkStation E32 available in minitower and small form factor models.

The ThinkStation E32 is available in minitower and small form factor (SFF) configurations. The minitower measures 16.9 x 6.9 x 16.7-in. (431 mm x 175 mm x 425.2 mm) and weighs 27.56 lbs. (12.5 kg). The SFF version measures 14.8 x 4.0 x 13.3-in. (375 mm x 102 mm x 338 mm) and weighs in at 17.2 lbs. (7.8 kg).
The ThinkStation E32 supports integrated Intel HD Graphics P4600 as well as NVIDIA Quadro graphics up to the high-end Quadro K4000 in the minitower and K600 in the SFF version. Both versions also support NVIDIA NVS graphics for multidisplay set-ups. In addition, both ThinkStation models E32 can be equipped with up to 32GB of memory. The workstations are Energy Star, EPEAT, and Green Guard compliant and feature power supplies that are up 92% efficient.
The E32 SFF supports up to three hard drives, and the E32 minitower supports four. Storage capacity is up to 9TB. Both include 1GB Ethernet networking. Expansion ports include two front and four rear USB 3.0 ports, two rear and one internal USB 2.0 port, VGA, two DisplayPort, and four PCI slots. The ThinkStation E32 also has a 29-in-1 card reader, which can read and write to 29 different media types such as Compact Flash, Mini SD, and Memory Stick.
The E32 can support up to three independent monitors using Mosaic Mode with Intel graphics. A variety of Lenovo ThinkStation LED monitors ranging in size from 22 to 30 inches are available. Other accessories include a security cable lock, USB keyboard with fingerprint reader, and a wireless mouse.
In addition to the Autodesk AutoCAD LT trial edition, the ThinkStation E32 offers software certifications from such developers as Adobe, Autodesk, Avid, PTC, Siemens PLM, and SolidWorks. The ThinkStation E32 runs under Windows 8 and 8 Pro as well as 32- or 64-bit Windows 7 Professional.

“Modeling and design work can be extremely time intensive. Many design revisions and iterations take place, with data running in the background, to get to a final product,” said Rob Herman, director of product and vertical marketing, ThinkStation business unit, Lenovo, in a press statement. “The ThinkStation E32 is a design workhorse, giving users workstation level performance and effortless productivity on a PC-sized budget.”
The Lenovo ThinkStation E32 minitower model and the Lenovo ThinkStation E32 SFF will be available through Lenovo and its business partners. Pricing starts at approximately $729, according to the company.
