Geomagic (Research Triangle Park, NC) launched Geomagic Labs, a website designed for the Geomagic community to be able to receive early access to new technologies, innovation and product concepts before they become a part in commercial software.
It is also hoped that Geomagic Labs will provide the company with insight into user needs and give the company an opportunity to shape their products to address those requirements. First on the docket for preview and discussion on Geomagic Labs is Parametric Exchange, a new feature that is designed to reduce product development time by enabling seamless transfer of parametric surfaces, solids, datums and curves from Geomagic Studio software to major CAD packages. Currently the Parametric Exchange preview is available for Autodesk Inventor and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire only.
In addition, Geomagic Labs has the following previews and utilities: GeoAutoMate, a utility that is designed to improve productivity by monitory a directory; MakumDatum, a program providing drag-and-drop automation for the creation of datum points in Geomagic Studio and Geomagic Qualify; and an American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) Base Add-On designed to enable the creation of digital orthodontic models for rapid prototyping, case presentation and model storage.
