Fortus 3D Production Systems (Minneapolis, MN), a brand of Stratasys, now features their new soluble support material, SR-30, available for use with ABS-M30 and ABS-M30i thermoplastics. The material is said to be an improvement over its predecessor, SR-20, as it provides on average, a 69 percent reduction in dissolve-times in an agitation tank and a 46 percent dissolve time reduction in an ultrasonic tank. Fortus aims to improve throughput in all stages of the FDM additive fabrication process, thus SR-30 is initially compatible with two of the company’s additive fabrication machines – the Fortus 360mc and Fortus 400mc, (formerly FDM 360mc and FDM 400mc).
Improvements reported as a result of SR-30 are better post-processing time and time savings that translates into lower production costs.
