EOS Debuts New Offerings at EuroMold 2014

The company is showcasing new systems, materials and services.

EOS is showcasing a variety of new systems, materials and services at the EuroMold 2014 conference in Frankfurt, Germany.

At the conference will be the EOS M 400, which just completed its pilot phase. The device has a build envelope of 400 x 400 x 400 mm and is ideal for industrial series applications. The first release will be offered with EOS Aluminum AlSi10Mg and EOS NickelAlloy IN718. It is also equipped with a laser than can power up to 1000 watts and a recirculating filter system.

In addition to the EOS M 400, the company is also displaying the EOS M 290 additive manufacturing (AM) system. It is designed for tool-free production of high-quality serial components and prototypes. It has a build envelope of 250 x 250 x 325 mm and permits manufacturing of metal components. The EOS M 290 has a 400 watt laser and can operate under nitrogen or argon environment, enabling a variety of metals to be used with the system.

Attendees of EuroMold can also view EOS’ new material offerings. These include two materials — the PA 1102 black and PA 1101. Both polymers have high-impact resistance, resilience and flexibility, the company states.

EOS is also expanding its engineering services portfolio. While the current service team has approximately 100 employees, the company plans to continually expand its team over the next few years. It has also established a new branch specifically for additive manufacturing consulting.

“As far as series production is concerned, we usually have to deal with very complex customer requirements,” said Adrian Keppler, chief marketing officer, EOS. “The introduction of a new technology like additive manufacturing is often a very long drawn-out process. Firstly, we provide our customers with active support in building up their own technology skills. Secondly, we are the only supplier in the industry to actively support customers with especially high, industry-specific quality requirements in the validation process. This is the only way to ensure that our customers can gain optimum benefit from the great potentials offered by industrial 3D printing.”
