Dear Desktop Engineering Reader:

Power. Power. Power. You can get yourself what you think is a powerful workstation, but then you find that it is providing just marginal improvements running your applications. This was very common when we were first crossing over to the world of 64-bit computing. Then it was the applications that were not leveraging multi-threading. Today, it’s the software cramming stuff into the hardware and causing bottlenecks.

The folks at BOX Technologies have made it their mission to get the most of your hardware and software. And just the other day BOXX Technologies introduced its new 3D BOXX 4880 XXtreme workstation. BOXX calls the 3D 4880 XXtreme a “visual supercomputer.” I call it a screamer.

The 3D BOXX 4880 XXtreme gives you a six-core Intel i7 CPU running at speeds of up to 4.15GHz then decks it out with NVIDIA Quadro 5000 card with four GPUs (and support for up to seven GPUs or four dual-slot GPUs). In short, what that means is that your modeling, visualization, animation, and rendering applications can execute at maximum speeds. That makes the 3D BOXX 4880 is a workflow accelerator.

You can learn more about the 3D BOXX 4880 XXtreme workstation from today’s Pick of the Week write-up. Make sure to hit the link at the end to get yourself a spec sheet.

Thanks, Pal.—Lockwood
