iSEEK announced that its flagship product, CADseek, is now available integrated with Windchill, PTC’s PLM software offering.
CADseek provides shape-based search and Visual Data Management for large, distributed CAD databases. In a fully-automated mode, CADseek first codes all parts and assemblies in a users CAD database and then classifies them into families of similar shape. Parts and assemblies can then be quickly retrieved using geometry alone, attributes alone or a combination of the two.
For the initial implementation, CADseek can access geometric information and attributes from file folders and spreadsheets, but most often the procedure involves batch processing of CAD files and metadata extraction through a custom interface with the customers product data management system. Once the thin CADseek database has been populated, it can operate stand-alone as a server-client application capable of data exchange with the CAD software or PDM/PLM system.
In the new version, CADseek is integrated with Windchill to provide collaboration between the two products. Windchill is launched from within CADseek, so that it becomes available as a tab selection in the CADseek client. The user can then view the Windchill information page for a model from within the CADseek client; download CAD models from Windchill to the desktop or open them in another application such as Pro/Engineer (Creo); browse Windchill libraries and workspaces from within the CADseek client; and load a part from Windchill and perform a geometry search for similar models using CADseek technology.
