3T RPD Ltd. (Newbury, UK) announced the addition of a vibratory finishing machine, designed to support their Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) process. The ability to generate smooth parts plus cost and time savings can be a valuable offering for customers.
The SLS build process generates a certain amount of surface roughness on removal from the machine, so it is necessary to have a smoother, more refined finish for some parts.
3T’s team of modelmakers employ numerous in-house finishing techniques to produce aesthetically pleasing parts that can sometimes be comparable to the final manufactured item. The new finishing machine will reduce the time spent in hand finishing parts to remove surface roughness. The vibratory process of the machine is gentle and smooths the surfaces of multiple batch parts, resulting in a high quality finish in much less time.
