TransMagic EXPERTDeveloper of 3D CAD data exchange products, TransMagic, Inc. (Westminster, CO) has announced the release of what it calls a true 64-bit version of its flagship CAD file translation solution TransMagic Expert called TransMagic 64-Bit. TransMagic 64-Bit is said to provide a 10 to 20 percent performance improvement over earlier versions as well as the ability to handle larger files.

For some time weve been seeing complex assembly files larger than 1 gigabyte at automotive and aerospace companies, said Craig Dennis, CTO of TransMagic in a press statement. In the past there was no way to access enough memory to support the translation process for these large files. Being first to market with 64-bit means these limitations are now footnotes of a bygone era.

Translating large 3D design files is a memory-intensive operation, and medium-size files can quickly exhaust memory resources on a traditional 32-bit computer, says the company. The new TransMagic 64-Bit release, however, renders the 3GB memory limit of 32-bit applications obsolete for the purpose of translating large files, according to the company.

TransMagic Expert, a standalone application, offers more than 165 translation options, making it suitable for companies working in multi-CAD environments or manufacturing supply chains. It can read and write high fidelity CATIA V5, ACIS, Parasolid, IGES, and STEP files, and it has the ability to read most common file formats such HOOPS 16, HSF, Inventor, JT, NURBS, OBJ, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, and STL. Standard features include an auto Repair Wizard and support for multiple part instances.

TransMagic 64-Bit is also available in workgroup and enterprises editions. For more information, visit the TransMagic website.
