Siemens Digital Industries Software releases Simcenter Motorsolve and Simcenter SPEED 2021.1 electric motor design software.
Transition to Simcenter MAGNET
The 2D models from Simcenter Motorsolve have always been available for further simulation and analysis in Simcenter MAGNET. It required some additional work to set up the 3D models, particularly creating coils with end turns of various configurations.
Simcenter Motorsolve 2021.1 features an automated Simcenter MAGNET model export capability. Automatically export 3D motor models including detailed end windings. This makes it seamless to move from 2D to higher fidelity 3D simulation and analysis.
Direct Interface with HEEDS
HEEDS is a powerful design space exploration and optimization software package. Simcenter Motorsolve is now available as a direct portal in the HEEDS Workflow Manager. In addition, add Simcenter Motorsolve to other simulation processes in the workflow, such as Simcenter Amesim, to define multidisciplinary and multiphysics optimization problems. For example, this combination would allow for optimizing vehicle emission levels and electric machine performance together.
Built-in Vehicle Model
In Simcenter Motorsolve 2020.2, Siemends added a user defined duty cycle-based performance analysis capability. This allowed designers to import machine performance requirements from a system simulation to incorporate realistic vehicle behavior into the design process and calculate losses for an arbitrary load profile.
Building on this capability, a basic vehicle model has been added in Simcenter Motorsolve 2021.1. The estimation of the required motor speed and torque can be obtained with this integrated basic vehicle model.
New Simcenter SPEED FEA Solver
Simulation of material nonlinearities and saturation effects in electric motors require a finite element analysis solver. These effects can impact machine performance significantly, and if not accurately predicted via FEA, there can be no validation of the design, according to Siemens.
Based on Simcenter MAGNET technology, the new Simcenter SPEED FEA Solver enables a set of FEA-based calculations. Create 2D models with the embeded workflow, which can be solved directly with the Simcenter SPEED FEA Solver or exported to Simcenter MAGNET.
The new Simcenter SPEED FEA Solver can take skin and proximity effect-based losses into account. In addition, the accuracy of estimations such as efficiency, eddy current losses and machine performance calculations are improved and go beyond the previously available FEA options for Simcenter SPEED, according to Siemens.
