UGS Corp.(Plano, TX) has announced the availability of Parasolid version 17.1,the latest release of its industry-leading geometric modeling componentsoftware. Parasolid V17.1 includes new capabilities to support moreefficient 3D model construction, editing, and refinement as well as toenhance computer-aided manufacturing applications. This latest releasealso includes extended support for advanced Microsoft technologies todeliver general productivity improvements for users of Parasolid-basedsystems.
Parasolid V17.1 includes significant extensions to its robustfunctionality and ease-of-use across a variety of application domains.They include new manufacturing support functions for tool-pathsimulation and hole identification; added capability for fast localediting with new patterning and face patching controls; blending andfilleting extensions to increase end-user productivity in complexconfigurations; and enhanced modeling operators for efficient sheetmodeling and construction.
Parasolid V17.1 uses the new technologies released in Microsoft VisualStudio 2005. In particular, the 64-bit Windows platform is now fullysupported, using the X64 compilers released with Visual Studio 2005,enabling advanced applications to utilize Parasolid with very largedata sets to achieve unparalleled performance and scalability.Parasolid has also been released on 32-bit Windows using the compilersfrom Visual Studio 2005 to deliver improved performance and reducedcode size.
Parasolid V17.1 also features a .NET binding, allowing Parasolidcustomers to integrate Parasolid into applications based on the latestMicrosoft .NET technologies. Parasolid can be called via the bindingwith minimal performance overhead, laying the foundation for a newgeneration of Parasolid-based products.
