Caelum III adds support for product manufacturing information.

By DE Editors

Spatial Corp. provides CAD translation with product manufacturing information (PMI) to Toyota Caelum Incorporated for use in their latest software release, Caelum III version 4.4. The new version integrates Spatial’s 3D InterOp components to support import of 3D dimensions and annotations from CATIA V5, NX and Pro/ENGINEER. The inclusion of product manufacturing information within the 3D model improves communication throughout the design process and reduces costly downstream errors.

Caelum III is a 3D CAD/CAM system for automobile production planning and preparation because that has been developed based on the knowledge of Toyota Motor Company.  The software offers integrated data translation,  along with a 3D modeling and computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) application.

Toyota Caelum focuses on improving overall manufacturing workflow including CAD data workflows. In a typical workflow, the original CAD data from the automotive OEM is used for modeling dies/tools, generating tool paths, and inspection. Until now, manufacturing information such as dimensions,  annotations, and tolerance information was lost. By using Spatial’s 3D InterOp Product Manufacturing Information, end users can import 3D dimensions and annotations into Caelum III, and use the information in the later stages of production.
