ThingWorx 6.0 Ships

The platform now has a pluggable data store model and expanded security support.

PTC has released ThingWorx 6.0, the company’s scalable Internet of Things (IoT) platform. This release, according to the company, provides tools and capabilities that enable enterprises to create solutions for IoT applications.

Version 6.0 includes the following functionalities:

  • A pluggable data store model that allows users to natively integrate data stores for performance, scale, security and infrastructure requirements. It can also deploy Apache Cassandra for hyperscale runtime data.
  • A high-volume runtime data store provider which enables scalability of data and has full integration with Apache Solr for indexing and searching of stored data.
  • Productivity enhancements that include new styling options that offer full search capabilities on topics and API (application programming interface) documentation.
Performance improvements have also been made to value streams and data tables. Custom authentication module support is now expanded.

This release also incorporates a variety of security features. These include improved vulnerability protection, FIPS-140-2 compliance at the edge devices and improved certificate and encryption support.

“ThingWorx version 6.0 sets new standards in IoT scalability, security and platform extensibility,” said Russ Fadel, president, ThingWorx. “By combining the powerful federation capabilities of the ThingWorx platform and the new data storage engine, customers are able to implement geo-distribution of data allowing them to maximize availability, compliance with regulatory requirements and performance.”
