Synopsys Releases LucidShape 2.0

This version has expanded visualization capabilities and productivity tools.

Synopsys Inc. has released the latest version of its LucidShape automotive lighting design software. This release includes an updated photorealistic visualization module and productivity tools.

The Visualize Module, according to the company, is a fast, reliable engineering tool that enables users to check and make improvements early in the product development process. It offers the following capabilities:

  • Supports environment sources for the integration of 360º, high-dynamic range photographic environments into renderings. This includes all physical and optical properties.
  • Combines LucidShape’s luminance camera and backward ray tracing to generate images with multiple angles and viewing directions.
  • Utilizes LucidShape’s GPUtrace solution, which leverages GPU (graphics processing unit) computing to accelerate simulation.
Other tools in the new version of LucidShape are a Ray Data Viewer, Light Pipe Tool and a Measured Bidirectional Scatter Distribution Function Surface Material Library.

“The new LucidShape Light Pipe Tool significantly reduces development time for MENTOR’s major optics products,” said Dr. Michael Olbrich, head of the lighting engineering group at MENTOR GmbH & Co. Prazisions-Bauteile KG. “In addition, the LucidShape Visualize Module allows us to create physically correct photorealistic images for presenting MENTOR design concepts to our customers. This is a tremendously effective tool for communications with design teams and decision-makers.”
