SpaceClaim announced at the Collaboration and Interoperability Conference (3DCIC) (that the company has become a founding member of the 3D PDF Consortium. The consortium is holding its first annual meeting at the 3D CIC meeting this week.
We are pleased to welcome SpaceClaim to our membership, said David Opsahl, executive director of the 3D PDF Consortium, As a true innovator in the CAD space, and as a leader in providing 3D Direct Modeling solutions, their experience in delivering cost effective and easy-to-use 3D tools to the product development, engineering, and manufacturing communities is a welcome addition to our efforts in promoting 3D PDF as an open standard for visualization, collaboration, data exchange, and the long-term archiving of 3D data.
We look forward to supporting the efforts of the 3D PDF Consortium as it seeks to communicate the benefits of 3D PDF, and drive its adoption as a standard in engineering and manufacturing,” said Chris Randles, president and CEO of SpaceClaim. “SpaceClaim is an innovator in 3D design, and the Consortiums goals perfectly align with our own strategy. SpaceClaims is CAD-neutral, and our goal is to expand the market for 3D by providing easy-to-use tools that can create and edit any kind of 3D data” even formats that are normally seen as limited to visualization” thereby eliminating many of the headaches associated with traditional, proprietary CAD systems
