VX Corporation(Palm Bay, FL), a developer of integrated CAD/CAM solutions, hasannounced the integration of VX CAD/CAM with Lib3D, a library of smartmechanical components for mold makers. The inclusion enables theability to automatically generate and completely edit complete moldassemblies with VX programs.
Lib3D, a third-party product available from VX’s Italian distributor, Antares Italia(Besozzo, Italy), includes a range of mold bases from popular catalogsalong with standard mold components such as fasteners, waterlines, sliders, and BOM management. When using Lib3D with VX CAD/CAM, completemold assemblies are automatically generated and editable with the VXMold and Die and End-to-End bundles.
According to a press release, users can select components for moldassemblies such as fasteners to a series of plates, and Lib3Dautomatically calculates the required length and clearances, andallocates manufacturing attributes to the resultant holes in theplates. All component attributes such as supplier, material, code, etc., are “attached” and are available in the VX BOM and the automatichole making strategies in VX CAM. Lib3D also includes a developmenttool that allows users to build their own standard library ofcomponents for assembly automation using the same Lib3D functions ascatalogued components. It is completely integrated with VX CAD/CAM andfollows the VX Graphic User Interface standards.
Two bundles are available: Lib3D Basic and Lib3D Advanced. Lib3D Basicincludes mold bases and standard fasteners from DME, Futaba, and Hasco.Basic is available as a free download to all VX Mold and Die andEnd-to-End customers with VX Version 12 or higher. Lib3D Advancedcontains all standard elements and also advanced waterlines, sliders, and BOM management. Lib3D Advanced is password protected and requires alicense.
