SIMSOLID has released SIMSOLID Power edition, a package that extends model size and computer core utilization. The company has also added a new non-linear analysis type. The base software became commercially available in January and is designed to eliminate geometry simplification and meshing in finite element analysis.
The software’s new features include:
- New hinge constraint boundary condition. This may be applied to full or partial cylindrical faces that can be either concave or convex. The hinge constraint will allow free rotation about the center line of the cylindrical faces but constrain movement in both the radial and axial directions.
- New bearing load boundary condition. This may be applied to full or partial cylindrical faces that can be either concave or convex. Controls are provided for easy specification of direction and load span angle.
- No limit on number of parts. SIMSOLID Standard is limited to 150.
- No limit on number of computational threads. SIMSOLID Standard is limited to 8.
- New geometric nonlinear analysis option – provides the ability to do a large deformation, small strain analysis.
- New follower loads – all loads now have optional setting to change (follow) the deformed direction of the model.

Additionally, SIMSOLID has received seed funding from New England Enterprise Associates to accelerate development.
