Rockchip, a provider of semiconductors and mobile SoCs (system on chips), has launched the RKi6000 low-power SoC for smart home applications and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This technology, according to the company, reduces power consumption for IoT devices by 85%.
The RKi600 has a power consumption of around 66mW, which is almost the same as Bluetooth 4.0 LTE technology. It can be used for creating smart plugs, intelligent access controls, smart cameras and wearables.
The RKi6000 will be available starting Quarter 3 of this year.
