Remcom has revealed the Projected Capacitive Touch Capability in its XFdtd 3D Electromagnetic Simulation Software. This new feature will be available in the next version of the platform, which is slated for early 2015.
The touch capability is compatible with touchscreen technology on mobile devices, desktop computer monitors, touchpads, proximity sensors and more.
The software’s electrostatic software will compute the matrix of self- and mutual-capacitance between any number of conductors in a model. With the Poseable Hands feature, users can evaluate a variety of touchscreen usage configurations.
Benefits of the Projected Capacitive Touch Capability, according to the company include:
- Importing of designs from CAD programs;
- Support for complex geometries for analysis within fully populated devices;
- Calculation for arbitrary, complex sensor designs.
