Who doesn’t want their very own 3D printer? If you are an engineer, educator or designer here’s your chance to get one for free! Enter the Rapid Ready sweepstakes for your chance to win an uPrint 3D Print Pack from Stratasys. I’d enter, but I think the home office might get suspicious.
The uPrint package contains a uPrint SE 3D printer, a WaveWash support cleaning system, EcoWorks cleaning agent, ABSplus ivory print material, build support material and modeling bases. All of that works out to a complete 3D printing solution right out of the box. If you find yourself needing something to print, check out Rapid Ready’s 3D model files section for inspiration.
The uPrint SE 3D printer is a fused deposition modeling machine that is just the right size to fit on your desktop. As previously mentioned, the uPrint Pack also includes the WaveWash. This hands-free support cleaning system utilizes an eco-friendly solution to safely remove support material.
ABSplus is a thermoplastic that is, according to Stratasys, 40% tougher than standard ABS. This material is intended to create functional prototypes, concept models and manufacturing tools. If the build requires an extra-smooth finish, Stratasys offers a no-touch Finishing Touch Smoothing Station that will quickly finish parts.
Industry giants such as Anheuser-Busch have used parts created by the uPrint SE. When a part originally made from aluminum broke, Anheuser-Busch contacted Indian Springs Manufacturing Company for emergency repairs. The part required was within tolerances for an ABSplus printed replacement, and could be created much quicker than a machined aluminum part. The part was a success.
We saved Anheuser-Busch nearly 70% in production costs alone, and even more importantly, we delivered the part in just 72 hours. This would have taken us at least two to three weeks had we produced the part in aluminum.–Shawn Ferguson, president of Indian Springs
